All I can say is wow! What a whirlwind of a year 2017 has been. There were some definite highs, and of course, a low or two, but overall 2017 was a wonderful year full of great blessings, amazing clients, beautifully finished projects and major dreams realized.
As we wave goodbye to 2017, and make plans for 2018 to be the best year ever, we invite you to take a look back with us as we round up the best of 2017 here in Casa Vilora Land
We started 2017 with the celebration of a major milestone. We celebrated 10 years in business! We invited our clients to celebrate with us at our Open House on January 27th
I started my first term as the newly appointed Houston Chapter President for Interior Design Society
Our first industry show for the year – Las Vegas Market VIP Tour with Jackie Von Tobel and Deb Barrett of Soft Design Lab. It was my first time to Las Vegas Market and it was the most amazing trip ever. Being a part of the VIP tour was a great learning experience. Imagine being literally treated like a VIP for three whole days!
We stayed in fine style at the beautiful SLS Casino and Resort. And the best part, my roomie ended up being one of my favorite interior designers, and now great friend, Erika Ward
Our Onesie Drive campaign to benefit The Solomon Project was a huge success. We collected over 250 onesies to benefit recipients of a nursery makeover for The Solomon Project
Our river side master bedroom project was featured on Houzz Room Of The Day
My first appearance on The Business of Design Podcast with Kimberley Seldon. I was honored to be their very first guest, and we talked about how I conduct my design consultations. It was a very well received episode.

We launched our Curated Collections Room Packages. This service has been popular for clients who want the same great Casa Vilora Interiors style, but at a lower budget range.
We completed another Solomon Project Ministry nursery makeover. This one for baby Dawn due in June.
My first time as a real estate investor. I partnered with the amazing team of Meadows House Buyers on this amazing home at 931 Mahogany Run in Katy that we dubbed “The Mahogany Mansion” After a couple of months of renovations and some staging by yours truly, the home sold for a record price for the neighborhood.
In July we participated in the ASID TGCC Designer Show House in Willow Creek Ranch. We worked on the lady’s study. The room was a smashing success. I was also co-chair of the showhouse committee
August was not the best month for us here in Houston. Hurricane Harvey put a toll on our great city. But we saw some amazing acts of kindness, courage and love during this time. We came together as a city and helped each other rebuild. We launched our Good Neighbor Design Special where we offered discounts on our design service fees. The program ends in a few days, but we are so honored that we were able to assist many homeowners get over the difficulties and overwhelm following the hurricane.
Our Adopt A Family effort was also a success. We were able to collect over $1950 in donations and assisted a family with replacing flooring in their home following the flooding from Hurricane Harvey
On the personal front, I signed on the dotted line to begin construction on my new home, dubbed “Chez Solomon” My son and I are leaving our small studio apartment behind, for this new home that will be very much the new Casa Vilora Interiors design lab. The plan is to take a very builder basic home, and upgrade it over time, and share the renovation stories with our audience
Yippeee!! September was a big month for us! We secured the lease and began the build-out for our new design studio. Look at where it started. Stick around to see the results
